Our Philosophy

Years 12 and 13 involves studying towards external exams and so the curriculum is focused on the specifications. However we complement the study of Business Studies and Economics with the encouragement of a wider approach which involves regular preparation and project work by students independently. The Department is extremely well resourced and students rehearse and develop the analytical and evaluative skills that are required for good grades in our subjects through their own preparation of work as well as in lessons.

Students should be familiar with the use of models as an aid to the understanding of complex economic and business problems and be able to relate these models to observed behaviour in the real world. To assist in achieving these aims the courses are interjected with Business visits, conferences and visiting speakers as well as various competitions and business simulations, which help to relate the knowledge, and skills they have acquired to particular situations in a challenging way.
